A few simple steps can help ensure the best possible specimen collection:

• Follow any fasting instructions provided by your healthcare provider.

• Wear clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up easily.
• Inform your phlebotomist about any history of fainting during blood draws.

Meet the Medical Laboratory Scientist Behind OnCall Mobile Labs

At OnCall Mobile Labs, your specimen collection is performed by Daniel Kanu, Founder and Medical Laboratory Scientist, whose career has been dedicated to delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate laboratory services.

Daniel brings more than 20 years of professional laboratory and phlebotomy experience, with expertise spanning specimen collection, clinical laboratory testing, microbiology, quality assurance, and laboratory operations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and completed his Medical Laboratory Science training at The George Washington University (GW).

Throughout his career, Daniel has served in both clinical and administrative laboratory roles with some of the nation’s most respected healthcare organizations, including:

• Inova Health System
• Labcorp
• Quest Diagnostics
• Fairfax County Health Department Laboratory

In addition, Daniel has more than five years of specialized microbiology laboratory experience, where he has performed bacterial culture identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, infectious disease testing, quality control, laboratory quality assurance, and other advanced diagnostic procedures.

His broad experience across hospital laboratories, commercial laboratories, and public health laboratories provides a deep understanding of the complete laboratory testing process from proper patient identification and specimen collection to handling, transportation, and laboratory quality standards.

When Daniel arrives for your appointment, you’re not simply meeting a mobile phlebotomist. You’re being cared for by a highly trained Medical Laboratory Scientist who understands the importance of every specimen and the critical role it plays in your healthcare.
